罂粟花

Poppies

I found that the California poppies I seeded last summer had welcomed its blooms again this morning. I remembered they were only meant to be annuals. Who would have thought they could survive a winter in a north-facing garden, with their salad-like leaves being hit by multiple frosts and coming back up again, yet still managing to produce flowers of a changed color - from golden orange last year to rhubarb pink this year! The carrier of life might be small and delicate, but the strength of life transcends fantasy and expectation. This is a cliche truth but I still can’t help being in awe when nature presents it right in front of my eyes.

立夏这一天早上发现去年夏天撒下的加州罂粟种子今年又迎来绽放。还记得种子的说明上这是一种一年生草本植物（annuals - 只开一季花之后便在冬天枯萎死去）。没想到不仅在我们朝北的院子里度过了一个寒冬，像沙拉一般的叶子被霜打无数次还能活过来，并在今夏生发出不同于之前的颜色（从金桔色变成落霞粉）。生命的载体虽然微弱，可蕴含的力量可以强烈非凡、变幻莫测。这个道理虽然是陈词滥调，但大自然把它呈现在眼前的时候还是让人禁不住肃然起敬。

汉普顿公园

Hampton Court Park (Home Park)

I went for a walk in Hampton Court Home Park this evening. There is a special gentleness in the sunset light of English early summer evening. The backlit grasses and tree leaves swayed and rustled happily in the wind, depicting a unique serenity of nature before everything really spurs in growth into the warmer days of summer.

立夏的傍晚到公园走了一圈。英国初夏美妙的落日余晖有种特别的温柔。背光的草和树叶在微风中轻轻摇摆，描绘出夏季暖热的生长来临前大自然独有的一种安详。

五色豆子饭 Five colour rice with beans

我想不到吃什么了，

所以我就采用了昨天收集到的立夏传统。

I am running out of ideas in feeding myself, that is why I adopt the tradition I found yesterday when calling for the photos of Lìxià.

今天拆开了很久前寄来的包裹，

是之前做义工的狗狗收容小院寄来的。

很惊喜。

“领养代替购买”，

希望这些流浪的宠物们再次拥有一个温暖的家。

I opened a package that mailed to me long time ago.

I’m surprised that it is from the Stray Dog House that I volunteered before.

“Adopt pets instead of buying them”,

I hope that one day those lovely homeless could have a warm home again. Best wishes!

但天气微凉。

昨日还是短袖，

今天必须加上外套。

但我知道，

一切只是暂时的，

气温终究还是会上升，

一切都会变好的。

Lìxià is a bit cooler than I think.

I wore shorts yesterday.

Today I have to add a coat.

But I know,

everything is temporary,

the temperature will rise,

so does others,

everything will get better.

Today is so windy and cool in Shanghai.

I had a small bowl of milk coffee jelly that used to be one of my childhood favorite snacks.

今天是立夏，妈妈说应该吃蚕豆。

但是我心急，忘记拍照就吃完了。

饭后去露台，惊觉玫瑰开始绽放。

剪下一枝花，插入瓶中慢慢欣赏。

It's Lìxià today and mum says we should eat broad beans.

However, I was so anxious that I forgot to take a picture, but finished eating.

My family went out on the patio after dinner and felt surprised that the roses are starting to bloom.

Dad cut off a rose and then inserted it into the vase to admire it slowly.

据妈妈讲，今年雨水比较多，遍地都是竹笋，所以竹笋现在也比较便宜。再过几天，菜市场上也买不到应季的竹笋，那我们就且吃且珍惜吧！

According to my mum, the frequent rain this year caused to the bamboo shoots everywhere, therefore it is relatively cheap to buy. But a few days later, bamboo shoots will not be the seasonal vegetable, then we shall cherish them when we still have them.

桃子长出来啦！

The peaches are growing!

夏天来的个人标志是早上起得比以往早些，

早上有更多的时间做自己喜欢的事。

家门前的枇杷树和公园里的桃树都长果实了，

柚子树开花了。

若不是疫情，

我很难看到家乡随季节变化的种种景象。

My realization of summer coming is to wake up earlier than usual in the morning,

and thus I have more time to do what I like.

The loquat tree in front of my house and the peach trees in the park are bearing fruit,

and the pomelo tree is in blossom.

If there were not COVID-19,

I could hardly see my hometown changing with the seasons.

这部比我大10岁爷爷奶奶从香港扛回来用到现在的电风扇，昨天还好好的！我还感慨它很结实，马力也很足！怎么今天就不行了？(。·́︿·̀。)舍不得它，但是留不住它！只能拍照留念！

This fan is ten years older than me. My grandparents bought it from Hong Kong. And it was working yesterday. I was praising it as a good machine! But it stopped working today. I really do not want to give it away, so here is the photo to memorise it.

To someone who like clouds:

If you do have an interest in clouds,

search: rocket clouds in Hainan.

Because on the day of Lìxià,

a new rocket goes to space

from Wenchang Satellite Launch Center.

And the cloud you see in this photo is the sign of rocket.
