Journey to the West 45:
The Treasure in the Well
The Tang Monk introduced himself to the prince and then waved toward the others. "These are my followers. We're going to the Western Paradise to get scriptures from Buddha."
"What's going on?" asked the prince. "Why did the monkey lead me here?"
唐僧介绍了自己，然后指向其他人说：“他们是我的徒弟。我们要去西天取经。”
“有什么事吗？” 王子问，“为什么那猴子引我来这里？”
"The man ruling the Black Rooster Kingdom is not really the king," said the monk. He told the prince everything.
When the Tang Monk's story was finished, the prince was furious. "You're lying! I will have you arrested for making up such a story!"
“现在统治乌鸡国的人并不是真正的国王。” 唐僧说。他把一切都告诉了王子。
唐僧说完的时候，王子非常生气。“你在撒谎！我要拘捕你。你居然敢编造这样的故事！”
The Tang Monk reached into his robe. He pulled out the jade coin. "Your father told me to show you this."
The prince gasped. "That coin belongs to my father! It's a royal treasure." He began to cry. "Your story must be true. My poor father. All this time, people thought that evil Daoist was him."
唐僧把手伸进了袍子里。他拿出了那块玉。“你的父亲让我把这块玉给你。”
王子大吃一惊。“那是我父亲的玉！那是皇家珍宝。” 他哭了起来。“我相信你们说的是真的。我可怜的父亲。这些年，人们一直都以为那坏道士是他。”
"Don't worry," said Wukong. "We'll get rid of that fake king."
Late that night Wukong lay awake. "The Daoist will deny everything," he thought. "We need proof that he killed the real king."
He poked Bajie, who was fast asleep. "Bajie, wake up."
“不用担心。” 悟空说，“我们会收拾那个假国王的。”
那天夜里，悟空躺在床上睡不着。“那道士不会承认的。” 他想，“我们需要证据，证明他杀了真正的国王。”
他捅了捅八戒。八戒睡得正香。“八戒，醒醒。”
Bajie rolled over. "Leave me alone . . . sleeping."
"We need to do something," said Wukong.
"Not now," mumbled Bajie.
"I know where there's treasure," Wukong lied.
Bajie's eyes popped open. "Where is the treasure?"
八戒翻了个身。“别动我，睡觉呢。”
“我们有事要做。” 悟空说。
“现在不行。” 八戒嘟囔着说。
“我知道哪里有宝藏。” 悟空撒了个谎。
八戒的眼睛突然睁开了。“宝藏在哪儿？”
"Follow me," said Wukong.
They went outside and flew to the palace. In a small courtyard, Wukong rushed toward a well.
"The treasure is in this well," said Wukong, pulling the lid off.
“跟我来。” 悟空说。
他们走出了房间，向皇宫飞去。在一个小庭院里，悟空快速朝着一口井跑去。
“宝藏就在这井里。” 悟空说着搬开了井盖。
Bajie peered down into the darkness. "Is this the well the king was pushed into?"
"Oh, I'm not sure," said Wukong, pretending to not know. "The treasure is definitely down there though."
"How will we get it out?" asked Bajie.
八戒朝黑漆漆的井里看去。“国王是在这口井边被推下去的吗？”
“嗯……我不确定。” 悟空说。他装作什么都不知道的样子说：“那宝藏肯定在下面。”
“我们怎么才能取出宝藏呢？” 八戒问。
Wukong pushed Bajie, and Bajie splashed into the water.
"You rotten monkey!" shouted Bajie.
Wukong laughed. "Find the treasure, and I'll let you back up."
悟空推了八戒一下。八戒掉进了水里。“你个臭猴子！” 八戒大叫。
悟空笑了。“找到那宝藏，我就让你上来。”
Angry, Bajie dived down, deeper and deeper, until he arrived at a palace.
"Greetings," said a dragon. "I'm the Well Dragon King."
"My name is Zhu Bajie," said Bajie. "I'm here for treasure."
八戒气呼呼地向水底游去。他越游越深，最后到了一座宫殿里。
“你好！” 一条龙说，“我是井底的龙王。”
“我叫猪八戒。” 八戒说，“我是来找宝藏的。”
"I don't have any treasure for you," said the Dragon King.
He looked up. "You came from the well. Are you from the Black Rooster Kingdom?"
"Not exactly," said Bajie. "My friends and I are helping the king of the Black Rooster Kingdom."
“我没有什么宝藏可以给你。” 龙王说。
他向上看了看。“你是从井里来的。你是从乌鸡国来的吗？”
“算是吧。” 八戒说，“我和我的朋友正在帮助乌鸡国的国王。”
"Oh, really?" The Dragon King raised his eyebrows. "I have something for you. Follow me."
The Well Dragon King led Bajie into a room. Bajie gasped. The body of a man lay on a table.
“哦，真的吗？” 龙王的眉毛扬起，“我有东西要给你。跟我来。”
龙王领着八戒走进了一间房。八戒大吃一惊。桌上躺着一个男人。
"This is the Black Rooster King's body," said the Dragon King. "Please take it back with you."
Bajie was furious that Wukong had tricked him. He lifted the king's body and headed back to the well. "I will get revenge later," he said to himself.
“这就是乌鸡国国王的身体。” 龙王说，“请带他回去吧。”
八戒很生气。因为悟空骗了他。他抱起国王的身体往回走。“我会报仇的。” 他自言自语道。
The next morning the Tang Monk looked at the king's body. "I wish we could bring him back to life."
"Wukong can bring him back to life," said Bajie suddenly.
"What!" cried Wukong.
第二天一早，唐僧看着国王的身体。“要是他能活过来就好了。”
“悟空可以让他起死回生。” 八戒突然说。
“什么？” 悟空大叫。
The Tang Monk smiled. "That's wonderful, Wukong. Please bring him back to life right away."
Bajie giggled.
I don’t know how to bring someone back to life!” said Wukong.
唐僧笑了。“那太好了，悟空。马上让他活过来吧。”
八戒一直咯咯地笑着。
“我不知道怎么让人起死回生啊！” 悟空说。
"Don't believe him, Master," said Bajie. "He can bring the king back to life. He just doesn't want to."
"That's not true!" explained Wukong.
"He's lying, Master," said Bajie. "Use the Tight Headband spell!"
“别相信他，师父。” 八戒说，“他可以让国王起死回生的。他就是不想这么做而已。”
“他说的不是真的！” 悟空解释道。
“他在撒谎，师父。” 八戒说，“念紧箍咒吧！”
