时尚是身份的体现，也表达着不同的价值观。

“你很时尚”为什么不能说 you are fashion 呢？大家想一想 fashion 的词性，它是个名词，表示“时尚、流行的款式”，所以 you are fashion 的意思其实是“你是时尚”，这很明显说不通。

应该用形容词 fashionable，说 you are fashionable 是可以的。

有风格的、时髦的

stylish 来源于 style “风格”，stylish 侧重于从风格上讲很时尚，可以用来形容人时尚，“型男”就是 stylish man，也可以用来形容衣服时尚。

I like your stylish skirt.

我喜欢你这条时髦的裙子。

时髦的，时髦的人

trend是“潮流、趋势”的意思，trendy 的意思更侧重于“新潮的”。此外，trendy 作为名词还可以表示“时髦的人、时尚的人”，这时它是个可数名词。

1. You are trendy.

你很时髦。

2. You are a trendy.

你是个时髦的人。

时尚的

in 和 out 是对反义词，一个是“时尚的”，一个是“过时的、落伍的”。这里的 in 是个形容词，“流行的颜色”就是 in color。

Khaki is the in color this season.

卡其色是这个季节流行的颜色。

be the latest thing

当下最流行的东西

late 是“晚”，按时间顺序，出现得最晚的东西就是最新的，所以latest意思就是“最新的”。新闻里常说的“最新消息”就可以用 the latest news 来表示。

而 the latest thing 是固定表达，表示当下最流行的东西。

This bag is the latest thing. I have one.

这款包是现在最流行的，我就有一个。

go out 最常见的意思就是“出去”，它还可以用来表示“过时”。中文里的“老掉牙”就是 go out with the ark /ɑːk/。the ark 就是《圣经》里的“诺亚方舟”。

- 你怎么不穿那件外套？

- 因为它很多年前就过时了。

过时

date作动词有很多种意思，除了最常见的“约会”，还可以表示“写日期、过时”。“它过时了”就可以直接说 it dated。别忘了 out of date 也可以表示“过时”哦。

我喜欢穿黑色或白色的衣服，它们不会过时。
