This year’s World Cup is inspiring so many people. It is the first World Cup to be held in Eastern Europe. The opening ceremony took place in the capital city Moscow, preceding the opening match of the tournament between host Russia and Saudi Arabia. Former Brazilian World Cup winning striker Ronaldo walked out with a child wearing a Russia 2018 shirt.
English pop singer Robbie Williams then performed two songs and a Russian actress presented a duet while other performers emerged, dressed in the flags of all 32 teams and carrying a sign bearing the name of each nation.
All of the stadium venues are in or just near European Russia to keep travel time manageable. At an estimated cost of over $14.2 billion dollars, it is the most expensive World Cup ever.
The final tournament involves 32 national teams, which includes 31 teams determined through qualifying competitions and the host team automatically qualified.
The World Cup is definitely a sport event that creates a big impact, and that has inspired me a lot to try the game out for myself.
