Orhan Gürel was born in Sivas/Turkey in 1952. Hestarted with design and caricature under his teacher Esref Uren' sencouragement in Financial Sciences and Accountancy High School. Later Gurelworked with pastels and watercolors in 1987. Gurel is very well known with hisatmospheric paintings that he creates with a poetic style. He is one of thepioneers of watercolors in Turkey and has taught the medium to manycontemporary artists.
