Chapter 1

Far on the plains of Africa, water was turning into the treasure that only lucky animals could find. Sometimes, there was only a small puddle of water every ten kilometer. There, a small whale calf was swimming in the deep blue ocean. She was lost in the world of ocean beauty, by the small colorful fish swimming by. Her mother and a hundred other whales, (including her) were traveling to the coastal waters of South Africa. She decided it was time to find her mother. Her mother was a grumpy whale, unlike other whales, she like to be exactly on time. She never liked to play and she couldn’t stand other animals. The mother and daughter called out to each other as a shadow cast over the sea. The clouds gathered together like people going to an important meeting, they greeted each other and joined. At first, there was only little droplets splattering down on to the surface of the water, then, huge, heavy drops began to drop from the clouds. It hardly ever rained, and this was only the second time the little calf had seen rain. Cara, the small calf, looked at the rain with joy. She jumped out from the water into the sky. Her mother hardly ever let her be so free and wild in the nature, what pleasure it was to see the sky, the water from above. Cara felt the water splatter on to her back, even though she is in the water everyday, this was different. Cara felt like a bird soaring in the sky, free to go wherever it wants. Cara forgot about finding her mom and the other whales. She forgot about swimming to the coastal waters. She felt like she was in heaven, in the place she was meant to be in, the beautiful sea.
Chapter 2

Flora was a small flamingo. She looked a bit different than other flamingos though. Most flamingos had bright hot pink feathers. She had pink feather alright, but she had white wings, unexpectedly.  Even though some species of flamingos had white feathers, her family thought it was weird. You might as well think, this was the reason her whole family left her, yes, it was. It was also the reason why Flora always hid from other flamingos, she never liked to boast about herself, she lived in the waters off East Africa, where flamingos traveled in flocks during the cold season. It was especially hard for Flora because, she was still a just grown up flamingo, and there was no other place she could thrive in expect with the flock. The other flamingos would tease her with a harsh cry, that struck her like lightning. It was not a surprise at all if the other flamingos left her for a week or two, but it had already been almost one month since the flock left her, Flora wondered worryingly if she was going to see the flock again. Yes, they teased her but how could she survive without them? It was night time. The moon shone in the sky. Gradually clouds started covering the whole sky. At first, there was only a few drops of rain then the rain poured down. She didn’t feel too happy like she normally would, but she saw an inch of hope. Rain meant other birds were coming to the trees nearby her for shelter! Flora knew this from experience, whenever it rained, all the other birds were going to come nearby her living area. There were pine trees, maple trees, all the kind of trees. The trees liked living by the waters because there the soil was loose and rich and there was always water. Flora saw a bird, one that was partially different from all the other birds because it had no beak, first of all, instead it was replaced by a nose. The creature did have wings indeed, but it was much longer and wide, and it it had fur…
Chapter 3

Eva finally had shelter! She settled down on a pine tree, even though a cave would suit her better, this was fine enough. The moon shone through the pine leaves. Eva wondered to herself, how are the other um… birds fly in the night? There was pink creature… standing on the lakes surface, it looked liked it was also staring it her. Eva was a curious bat, so she decided to go and have a look at the creature. She had never seen a creature like that and she wasn’t sure if it would attack her.  Eva slowly flew down from the tree and back into the rain, then she had a weird thought, she just saw other creatures exactly like her, and they were flying East! Eva wanted to tell the creature, because Eva somewhat felt sorry for it, it looked still small. Eva slowly flew towards it, careful to not scare it. Eva slowly landed on its head, the creature looked so scared but trigged not to move, as if scared that Eva would hurt her. Eva tried to look calm, but she couldn’t, this was what they called a Flamingo! She knew this because when she was little, her sister had went with her to a lake in the night, she saw a lot of flamingos sleeping in the lake. She asked her sister, “What are those creatures?”
“They are Flamingos, they are not too friendly to you if you disturb them when they are sleeping, but small ones can be friendlier.”
“Oh, can we fly near?” Eva asked
“No! They are sleeping right now.”
Eva  never saw a flamingo since then, but now it was her lucky chance! Eva tried to communicate to the flamingo by mimicking all the noises she had heard in her small life, chirps, moos, barks, and hoots but no luck….  She hopped on to the  flamingo’s back. The flamingo looked scared. Eva could see it in her eyes. Eva wanted to communicate to her, she had already lost her family, and they were on one of the most important journeys, also known as a migration. Eva didn’t want to lose this chance to make a friend, because the other birds were all so mean and rude.
