今天来首另类摇滚歌曲，来自加利福尼亚摇滚乐队Train，发行在他们的第二张专辑《Drops of Jupiter(2001)》。这是他们专辑中的第一首单曲，也是主打曲目。这首歌在音乐界掀起了一股风暴，使他们乐队从一个默默无闻一跃而成摇滚巨星。这首歌在公告牌百强单曲榜上排名第五。这首歌曾在Adult Contemporary排行榜上停留了100多周，在发行5年后就进入了数字下载排行榜的前50名，并且让乐队拿到了2项格莱美奖：“最佳摇滚歌曲”和“最佳器乐编曲伴唱”。
由于其独特而神秘的歌词，歌曲的意义一直都在被大众猜测。在接受VH1电视台采访时，主唱 Pat Monahan透露，这首歌关于他母亲的去世。1998年，乐队发行了他们的第一张专辑，也是在那一年他的母亲死于肺癌。那时候他在巡演，只能和母亲电话联系，直到母亲去世。1999年初，Train正在制作他们的下一张专辑，当时他们的唱片公司开始向他们施压，希望他们能大获成功。Monahan回到了他童年在宾夕法尼亚州的家，一天早上醒来时，他的脑海中出现了“重返大气层”这句话。经过一段时间的疗伤，他开始创作这首歌。Monahan说:“失去我生命中最重要的人让我心情沉重，但是我转念又想到'如果她没有人真正离开呢?如果她现在在这里，只是状态不同呢？我想，也许她只是回到大气层。”
