dry up=河水干涸, 资源耗尽

引申一下, 表示闭嘴, 不再说话
I dried up just as I was about to talk, even though I had been preparing the speech for weeks.

Dursley, you great prune这里我也没听出来
Dursley是他家的姓, 所以他家这个胖小子叫Dudley Dursley
这是作者故意的吧, 名字听起来有几分滑稽
you我听到了, great没反应过来, Dursley和prune都没听懂, 虽然知道是在羞辱Vernon

you great prune=你这个大蠢货
类似的you idiot, you big fool等

这里的boy是语气词, 类似于god, my god

you were听起来像是he was
但是前边的I haven’t seen you听着很清楚
并且这时候海格是对着Dudley说话, 并且他以为Dudley是Harry呢
所以请强行迫使耳朵把它听成you were
