看到Neel这个姓氏相信很多热爱艺术的朋友都不会陌生，Elizabeth Neel就是著名艺术家Alice Neel的孙女。Elizabeth小的时候，祖母就经常将温莎牛顿的颜料作为礼物送给她，然而在高中和大学时她却放弃了绘画，完成学业后她才正式成为一名艺术家。Elizabeth并没有一直被祖母的光环笼罩，随之时间的推移，她发展出属于自己独到的绘画风格。

Elizabeth的绘画和雕塑模糊了建筑与身体，记忆与行为之间的关系。Elizabeth的作品虽然表面上是抽象的，但她对符号化的残缺却有着一贯的坚持。她的大型绘画作品展现了绘画艺术的创作过程与材料探索之间潜在的张力，体现了现代抽象主义的精神性遗产。Elizabeth的典型风格是在大尺寸的画布上泼洒，轻刷涂抹以及碾上颜料，用代表性的符号与稳定的线条和色域相互作用，创造出层层结构。她创作时的”暴力“一面，甚至可以拿来与德库宁比较。她标志性的图样和纹理编排介于对态势绘画（Gestural Painting）的独有特点的遵循与打破之间。画面上看似随意的爆炸性处理和偶然的对称性相结合，最终使画面折射出罗尔沙赫氏实验中研究出的图像表象结构与心理状况之间的纽带；而画面中的大地棕、绿色、深蓝色、贵族紫和丰富的红色也暗指着生物学中的人类体液。侵蚀、磨损和涂刷在她炼金一般的作画过程中隐喻着未来世界，也象征着远古时代。同一个画面上，“史前化石”和形似有毒物质渗漏的颜料同时存在，以此，Neel暗示了从古至今躯体本身的局限和人类未来极有可能面临的灭绝命运。她的雕塑使用各种材料，包括了粘土，木材，蜡，胶带，喷墨印刷品以及回收物，将不同视角的透视与视觉经验拓展到三维。
