【结构解析及翻译技巧】

翻译时的核心得分方法在于：把你会的部分翻译成人话，翻译时一定不要在某一个单词的意思上死死纠缠，你的目标是翻译句子的意思，而不是死磕某个单词。所以，千万不要在某个自己搞不定的熟词或生词上去浪费时间。

此外，修饰成分翻译时如果塞不进句子中，一定记住：单独处理成句子，比如compensating 就译成了“这也算一种补偿。”

1. 句子主干为“主+谓+宾从”，即： he /believes /that …

2. 本句的翻译难点在于that引导的宾语从句，其主干为“主谓宾”，即：this very difficulty/ may have had/ the advantage,译为“正是这种困难可能变成了优势”;

3. compensating 和 of forcing him to think long and intently about every sentence 修饰the advantage。当修饰成分无法翻译成“的”结构时，就可以译为“单句”，即：compensating 译为单句（见译文最后）、of forcing him to ...译为单句（见译文中间部分）

4. and thus enabling him to … 为v-ing形式的结果状语，也可译为单句。
